The municipalities of Ischia The island of Ischia, towards the end of 1700, from an administrative point, was split into two Mandamenti that included, total, seven municipalities, which corresponded many "land" or "universities". The first Mandamento municipalities were part of Ischia, the capital, Serrara Fontana, and Barano Testaccio, the second included the municipalities of Forio, the capital, and Lacco Casamicciola. Following the abolition of Mandamenti and the incorporation of the municipality of Testaccio to Barano, the other six municipalities of Ischia are autonomous territorial entities still exist. When, in 1863, all of Southern Municipalities were invited to make those changes that were deemed appropriate to the ancient names of their municipalities, the municipality Lacco decided to add the adjective "Ameno" to the name of the municipality, so that you call today.
